WE are responsible
As I wrote a few days ago, I am attending the globalvoicesonline.org summit in Budapest. A very inspiring group gathered here from all over the world, from places I would wish to see more at “regular” 2.0 conferences. My first impressions are overwhelming. The bloggers sitting here – many of them – have been to jail, have been tortured, are risking their lives to report about their circumstances of living via youtube, blogs and other social media tools. Their goal is to be heard out there – so many voices on the internet which need our help to get heard! So all of us dealing with the internet should feel responsible. WE are responsible!
The first thing I would like to point to is the Access Denied Map

The Map does not aim to index all kinds of web filtering, but rather to provide an overview of online censorship efforts related to the social web and major web 2.0 websites. This project will also track and explore the relationships between anti-censorship groups in different parts of the world who are collaborating to defend the right to access web 2.0 tools and websites.
