MyFirstVote.tv
Today, by coincidence, I was confronted with myfirstvote.tv . Jonathan Pillot, US film producer, had the idea while he was talking to his daughters who is one among 16,069,983 potential first time voters in 2008 in the US. My First Vote’s mission is a non- partisan grass movement created to motivate, engage, educate and mobilize eligible 18-year-old first time voters. It is their goal to have an impact in inspiring the largest turnout of first time voters at the polls in American history.

The My First Vote grass roots movement is a sustainable lobbying force for the youth. There are an abundance of issues and challenges that will affect the presence and future of young Americans in many ways. Through My First Vote, this demographic can communicate around the political questions and concerns specific to their generation through a trusted forum designed around their preferred modes for obtaining information and expressing their views.
On the platform people can upload their videos, can set up their own blog and comment on the movies, find the latest news on the election, can register to vote and follow the debates. Even though the platform isn’t really web 2.0 sophisticated (missing embed links, no twitter, no real community building …) I wish we could set up something like it in Germany!
myfirstvote.tv is most definetely a WE, We like!
