Change Starts with We20
On April 2nd, 20 leaders of the worlds’ biggest economies will meet at the G20 summit in London to discuss the critical state of the global economy. With all there is at stake, it can seem impossible to sit back and let a chosen few run the show.
So why not bring the dialogue closer to home?
We20, a London based initiative, feels that change can start with an agenda – and 20 of your closest friends.
“The recession is focusing minds. We20 meetings will create people plans, policy plans, business plans and other plans on local, national and global issues.”
The impetus behind this initiative is to extend the dialogue stemming from the G20 summit to the people by inviting them to start their own G20 groups (cleverly called We20 groups) to discuss the issues brought on by these recession-troubled times, and collectively brainstorm on possible solutions.
The soon-to-launch www.we20.org will act as a hub where groups can post their projects and ideas for creating change either on the community or global level. Members of We20 will be given the opportunity to vote on the top 20 projects, with these projects then receiving assistance with implementation.
If sitting back isn’t your thing, act quick to mobilize your friends and family and sign up your group by visiting the We20 Facebook page.
In these times, it’s difficult to feel in control of anything. However, WE can - and should – place ourselves at the helm of contributing to the solutions. And if 20 of your closest friends come along for the ride, it just makes changing the world a less lonely battle to fight.
Tell us if you’re planning on registering your group on We20 – WE’d love to follow along!
